The NZ Red Poll Cattle Breeders held a successful Helmsman Auction of Registered cattle in Ashburton on 28th April 2011.

16 of the 20 lots were sold with the average price being $834.40
3 in-calf heifers averaged $1217.
7 rising 1yr heifers averaged $514
6 rising 1yr bulls averaged $1017

Although prices were not as good as vendors would have liked, they were very pleased with the spirited bidding and sale clearance.

Their calves sold Balclutha 29/4/11 15 x  bull calves $640.00 ($2.30kg/LWt  = 280kg/LWt) 7 months of age 12 X heifer calves $515.00  (2.25kg/LWt  =230kg/LWt) 7 months of age

Cows range in age from Rising 3 years to rising 8 years. Most mated to Garthmyl Toreador (a bull that weaned 480kg/LWt at 8 ½ months age)
